Hot Air Balloon Launch at DDB

On Thursday, April 2, 2009 The Students and Staff at DDB got to see a hot air balloon prepare for launching.
You can see in the pictures they started empty. When the wind calmed long enough they started to fill it with cold air, as they were filling it the wind picked back up. The balloon got full enough to put it upright, but the wind didn’t cooperate so they filled it and deflated it all in under ten minutes. If it had not been for the truck that the balloon was tied off to we would have had a balloon wreck…
I was amazed to see how hard the balloon operaters were pulling on the balloon. I seriously have never seen a hot air balloon up this close…It was really cool!
After they were finished putting away the balloon they allowed the students to ask questions. Our little Elizabeth hear the lady talk about making peoples dreams come true. She came down and asked, “Why do you want to make people’s dreams come true?” The lady laughed a little bit and answered her. I thought of all the questions Elizabeth could ask she asks that one… What a creative child! I love your difficult questions Elizabeth.
