Update on The Hummingbird…

Posted by stephyc under: Uncategorized .

Today 24 June 2009 Jason found someone who is willing to take our little hummingbird.  I asked Nikki and Elizabeth if they wanted to go with me to take the hummingbird.  Elizabeth immediately said, “Yes.”  Nikki thought for a moment and said, “No, because I don’t want to have to say goodbye.  I don’t want to cry.”  So Elizabeth and I drove to Sedona to meet Wilma.  Wilma is a sweet old woman who started caring for birds about 15 years ago.  She had another “hummer” (as she calls them) that was smaller then the one we brought.  She told me she is working with another woman who releases the birds for her.  Wilma has had three successful “hummer” releases so far this year.  She will be feeding the “hummer” every hour.  I will check in occasionally to see how our little hummingbird is progressing.  She said that it looks really healthy.  So we are hopeful for another successful release.  Maybe I can be there the day it is released to take pictures…

Another cute thing that happened.. I was talking with Nikki about the other hummingbird that died.  I said, “You didn’t cry when the other hummingbird died.”  She said, No because it was magic.”  “What do you mean it was magic?”  I asked.  She replied, “Since it didn’t get fed it just magically died!”  I couldn’t respond because the logic was so simple and cute!
