Cottonwood to Laughlin to Turlock 2009
Posted by stephyc under: Uncategorized .
We left for California on Friday, October 9, 2009 around 4pm. Thinking ahead to the long drive we opted to stop in Laughlin. We knew we would still have a long trip on Saturday, but it would be worth it to get a good nights sleep before our 8 hours to Turlock. We thought it would be best to avoid Flagstaff so we drove Perkinsville Road to Williams, AZ. Right before we came into Williams I saw a small group of deer. Jason turned the car around so the girls could see them also. There were a total of 6 deer in this group. We continued our small trip to Laughlin.

As we were driving across the 40 the sun was setting. I got a couple of cool sunset pictures…

Right before the sunset completely.

More Arizona sunset photos!
We got free rooms and had a nice dinner before going to bed.
On Saturday, October 10, 2009 we woke-up got ready for our trip and went to have breakfast. After breakfast we went back to our room to check out.

The girls wanted pictures so we took a few.

We drove to Needles Highway and started our journey. We had a long trip to Turlock, but we did have an exciting thing happen along the way.
Lizzi lost her first tooth.

We were in Selma, CA and all of the sudden Lizzi yells, “I lost my tooth!” I was thinking she was joking around so I looked in the mirror and sure enough her first tooth had come out. She was bleeding so I handed her some ice.

I called Mom when we were in Atwater and told her we were still in Chowchilla. She thought we had another hour before we would arrive, but really it was only 20 minutes.
Our longest wait after an 8 hour drive was at the stop light at Taylor and Monte Vista. I told Jason maybe we should have gone up to Keyes Road instead.

When we pulled in Grandpa was sitting out in front of the shop. He looked at us and then started smiling. He said you aren’t suppose to be here until the 22nd. I said no that’s Emily.
Lizzi ran up and before I could get out of the car gave her Great-Papa a big hug and took off. Nikki was a little slower and I was able to get a picture.

I made Lizzi come back and give her Great-Papa another hug just so I could get a picture.

Our girls love seeing Great-Papa.

The girls were so excited to see their friend Taylore.

We are so excited to be here in California for a couple days to visit with our family and friends. I will have more to share soon!
