Chace Lee Hoover

Posted by stephyc under: Uncategorized .

Almost two months ago my Mom informed me that my cousin Larry had his first son.  Chace Lee Hoover was born on 7 November 2009.  While we were in California in December my sister Emily and I had an opportunity to hold Baby Chace.  While I am always partial when it comes to babies, he was especially sweet and so cute.

When our family went out to California on January 1st after my Grandpa’s passing we never knew what was about to come.  On Monday, January 4, 2010 my Mom got a phone call from my sister Sarah telling her that Baby Chace wasn’t breathing.  Mom and Dad immediately headed to the hospital with Aunt Judy (Chace’s Grandma).  A little while later I got a call from Mom telling me that Chace didn’t make it.  I can deal with most things, but hearing of this sweet baby passing just after my Grandpa’s passing was just so much more then my brain could understand.  My heart wept with and for each of his family members.  Chace’s Mom, Dad, Sister, Grandmas, Grandpas, Aunts, Uncles, and cousins.

His funeral was held on Friday, January 8, 2010 at Turlock Memorial Park.  The sky opened and cried with us all during the funeral/graveside service.  I have to say that I’m so amazed by the strength and love that was shown during such a difficult time.  Larry and Sam please know that if there is anything we can do for you we will!

While I still don’t know why he was taken so early, I have found a little solace in that he is with his Great-Grandpa in heaven.  Plus that the two of them together are watching over us like guardian angels one old, one young.  I will forever be so thankful for the chance I had to know this sweet spirit.
